The Yip Harburg* Lyrics Foundation offers a FREE workshop, Hands-On Introduction to American Jazz, taught by Dan Aran, Internationally Renowned Jazz Percussionist, Master Teacher and Music Director and Celebrated Guests.

This workshop is an exploration of the development of Jazz, from its origins in West Africa to the present. The workshop will explore what Jazz is and cover: Jazz Improvisation; the styles of Jazz Greats; how to listen to Jazz; Jazz and the American Songbook (George and Ira Gershwin, Yip Harburg and Harold Arlen et al.); learning to hear instruments, musical forms and international influences in Jazz. Learn to read music and create your own!
